书接上回，李鸣带孟达直奔体育馆，张林远远瞧见孟达被李鸣拉着手“飞”过来，还以为孟达犯了什么错误，赶紧上前笑脸相迎，说：“李老师，今天怎么有空来我这里喝茶呀。”李鸣说：“我本来想带孟达去参加少年科技比赛的，他说要来问问你的意见，我跟你说啊，这少年科技比赛在我们市里含金量对于小学组来说是很高的，可不能错过啊。”张林一听，本来心里还有点忐忑，这下他一下子心里落地了，尤其是他听到含金量很高的时候，心里倒是有股既高兴又难过的感觉，但没有犹豫，他大手一挥，把孟达揽到身边，说：“那敢情好啊，你小子可要去参加啊，我这里的人可都是要文武双全的啊。”孟达听后点点头，说：“那好，李鸣老师我去参赛。”李鸣听后高兴地直拍孟达肩膀，说：”好小子，我就知道你小子有前途，我现在就去给你报名，你明天记得来我办公室找我。”说完就直接风风火火地走了。张林看着孟达，突然有了一种感觉，孟达的将来不只有羽毛球，还有更多的可能性。这种感觉在他另外的两位徒弟身上他也曾经感受过，而这也是他一直放他们两个在外面闯而不让他们固定时间练球的原因，虽然叫了可能也叫不回来。
孟达倒是不是很在意这件事，他带李鸣老师过来只是想知会一下张林，跟他提前打个招呼。孟达看张林呆在原理没有动作，就自己把球拍拿出来，找了个没人的地方练起球来。等张林回过神来的时候，孟达已经挥了上百下拍了。
张林看着孟达挥拍时汗珠挥洒的样子，便明白孟达心中有数，不需要他去说什么，他便回到办公室，开始了他下班的悠闲时光。
